Daisy Ridley in Talks to Play Lara Croft
Daisy Ridley may take Angelina Jolie’s place in the reboot of Tomb Raider. The reboot is only being planned, but the 23-year-old Star Wars star is already in the talks to step in Angie’s shoes and become Lara Croft.
Ridley spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and said that there “have been conversations” about her possible collaboration with the directors of the new movie with popular action heroine Lara Croft. Nothing particular has been agreed on yet since there isn’t even a script yet but the English actress is waiting for the actual offer.
The actress might be just the right person for the role considering the reviews she received for her portrayal of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Both critics and fans predicted a bright future for Ridley and it seems they weren’t wrong.
Ridley’s co-star from Star Wars, John Boyega absolutely loves the idea of her playing the leading role in the new Tomb Raider. “I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘This is you!’ and ‘You need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be,” said Boyega after he had played the new version of the video game.
Even though nothing is certain at this point, the actress sounds pretty excited by the possibility. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” admitted Ridley. It remains to be seen whether her wish will come true.
