10 Gay Actors Who Play Straight Roles
1. Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster is an American actress who started acting at the age of three, in commercials.
Her first important performance was in 1976 in the movie Taxi Driver in which she played a child prostitute. For that role she won a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other big role was playing a rape victim in the movie The Accused, and she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance.
Since then, she has had many big roles and for many of them she received some kind of award, or at least a nomination. In her movie Little Man Tate, a drama about a child prodigy, Foster starred as the mother. In all her movies, she plays a woman either not interested in sex and such relationships, or as a woman who enjoys the company of men and is in a traditional heterosexual marriage.
No one would ever think Foster was gay.
We probably wouldn’t even know about her sexuality if she hadn’t revealed it at the Golden Globes in 2013. She said that she felt the sudden urge to tell the public about her sexuality, and that she hadn’t had the courage to share her secret earlier.
Last April Foster married her partner Alexandra Hedison and these two are still very much in love and look pretty happy.
