12 Movie Sequels that Shouldn’t Have Been Made
After watching these movies, we can only ask ourselves – why? Why would anyone take a perfectly good movie and ruin it with a terrible sequel? But we guess that the money is always a big factor in these decisions. It is for you to decide whether these sequels contributed to the existing storyline or if they were just completely unnecessary.
1. Jaws 2 (1978)
The first movie was directed by Steven Spielberg which was pretty much a recipe for success. Besides, it was something new, scary and exciting – an enormous white shark starts terrorizing tourists at the Amity Island resort and Roy Scheider as Police Chief Martin Brody must deal with it and save the people. So the only problem with the sequel was – the plot was identical. Everything had already been seen.
Spielberg, of course, didn’t want anything to do with the sequel and the lead actor Scheider wasn’t happy about it but he was bound by the contract so he had to do it. The only compliment that this movie got was for its genius tagline “Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water….” Besides, it’s safe to say that Jaws 2 is the best Jaws sequel, considering the unfortunate two sequels that followed.
