Clint Eastwood Cracks a Joke about Caitlyn Jenner at Awards Show

You can leave it to Hollywood’s favorite old coot to make politically incorrect remarks on an awards show, on national TV.

On June 6, during the taping of Spike TV’s Guys’ Choice 2015, Eastwood (85) could not help making digs at Caitlyn Jenner.

The program was shot at the Sony Pictures studio in Culver City, CA. While presenting an award for athlete turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Eastwood made mention of other former athletes turned actors, including Caitlyn Jenner. “Jim Brown and Caitlyn something…” Eastwood quipped.

Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, was an Olympic decathlete. In the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada, Jenner set a world record (and beat her (then his) own record in the process) and won the gold for the decathlon event.

Caitlyn Jenner is now a motivational speaker and reality TV star, and most recently is known for going public about her transgender operation.

Clint Eastwood’s comment was incredibly insensitive and was obviously done to be clever at the expense of somebody. The audience certainly seemed to think so, and made audible grunts when Eastwood made the comment.

Sensing that the joke didn’t create the intended effect, Clintwood backtracked and said he knew the joke wouldn’t work anyway and that even the show’s producers advised against it. – Whoops!

The guys at Spike TV confirmed the quote. Spike TV’s Senior Vice President for Communications, David Schwarz, told USA Today in an email that Spike TV would not be airing the quote.

Nice going, Clint – you may have played the good guy in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, but this time you ended up looking pretty bad.
