Kanye, Kim K. And Justin Bieber Banned from Next Year’s Met Ball

Let me take a selfie—NOT on Anna Wintour’s watch.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit, more commonly known as The Met Gala, is the single most anticipated event on the New York social calendar. Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor-in-chief has been running the show for over a decade now. Since taking over, she has raised over $145 million for the Costume Institute with patrons willing to pay $25,000 per person or pledge $175,000 for a table of 10 just to get to attend the gala.

This year, the notoriously meticulous Wintour decided to ban all selfies inside The Met. This will leave all the documentation in the hands of the Vogue Instagram account which, for the night, has been taken over by the legendary Mario Testino.

Unfortunately, a number of A-list guests couldn’t help but share the night with their fans via social media. Did they forget about the ban? Or did they blatantly disobey the ice cold Anna Wintour? Whatever the reason was for the rule breaking you would think that the legend that surrounds THE Anna Wintour would put the fear of the lord inside the hearts of some people. – Not so, we are afraid.

A source close to fashion’s favorite tyrant has relayed to VH1’s The Gossip Table what Wintour thinks about the whole thing:

“Anna is very aware of all the celebrities who ignored her request. She doesn’t know what she’s going to do yet but she’s deciding.”

Does this mean that Kimye, Justin Beiber and countless others will be banned from next year’s festivities? Well, it depends, according to another source who says all the stars who posted pictures from the event have been notified and have 24 hours to remove the offending photos—OR ELSE.

To be fair, Kim Kardashian claims that she was peer pressured into the whole thing. Kanye West’s wife revealed to Extra that she intended to follow the rules and left her phone at home just so she wouldn’t be tempted to share the experience on social media. She continued on to say,

“I took a photo with Kanye, Diplo and Madonna and I was like, ‘You guys, there’s no selfies.’ They were like ‘Oh come on. We can take a picture.’ I was like ‘No, I swear I don’t want to get into trouble’.”

Wow, way to rat everybody out Kim.

There still isn’t any official news regarding the “punishment” Anna Wintour intends to dole out on the rule-breaking celebs – which means we’re just going to have to wait ‘til next year’s Met Gala to see who has been taken off the list.
